Pi Beta Phi was the first national secret college organization for women molded after men’s Greek letter fraternities. Twelve women founded Pi Beta Phi Fraternity on April 28, 1867 at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. Each year, thousands of women become members of Pi Beta Phi, joining one of our more than 130 chapters across North America. The Louisiana Beta Chapter of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity was founded on October 17, 1936. The first initiation ceremony of LA Beta took place at Highland Hall on LSU’s campus, and the installation banquet was held in the dining room of La Maison Française, an old French chateau on campus! As members of Pi Beta Phi, our sisters pride themselves on striving to exemplify our core values in all that we do and say. Since its founding, the LA Beta chapter has steadily grown in both number and depth of sisterhood. With every new member added, LA Beta has gained a new asset to our family.
